A Little Bit About Us
The Sweater Shop is a family-run business that was established in 1986 by Dom Byrne and his sister Breege. Now in its second generation, the company is run by Dom’s son Paul and daughter Laura, alongside their sister-in-laws Kate and Eileen Louise, and cousin Alva, who manages the Galway locations.
The Sweater Shop remains a true family affair, built on a strong sense of heritage and deep-rooted family values. When asked by a journalist from The Irish Times in 1986 what made his shop so special, Dom proudly said: "quality, value and selection" – and that still holds true today. The large selection of superb quality Irish Aran knitwear at reasonable prices quickly became a favourite among both locals and visitors. As a result, the business expanded to include outlets around the country including Dublin, Kilkenny, and Galway City. The flagship store on Nassau Street in Dublin, located directly across from Trinity College, continues to be a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the heart of the city.
From timeless classics to modern twists on traditional patterns, there’s something for everyone in our collection — come and discover your next favourite piece instore or online.
