A luxurious, cosy woven shawl inspired by the Aran shawls traditionally worn by past generations of women living on the Aran Islands. Patterns reflecting ancient Celtic art are woven into the shawl. This design features symbols and mythology; visual story telling using Celtic knot and Celtic creature motifs, paying homage to Irish heritage and folklore. Just like the shawls worn by the Aran women of years gone by, this shawl is made of 100% Wool making it incredibly warm. Additional design details include a fringe trim on the bottom front and back, combined with a beautiful blanket stitch which finishes off the neckline and front opening. As each colourway is reversible, the wearer has two colour options for each shawl. For a cosy winter look, style over a jumper and boots or wear with a turtleneck and jeans. A versatile and warm layering piece. 100% Wool. Designed in Ireland.

A Little Bit About Us

The Sweater Shop is a family-run business that was established in 1986 by Dom Byrne and his sister Breege. Now in its second generation, the company is run by Dom’s son Paul and daughter Laura, alongside their sister-in-laws Kate and Eileen Louise, and cousin Alva, who manages the Galway locations.

The Sweater Shop remains a true family affair, built on a strong sense of heritage and deep-rooted family values. When asked by a journalist from The Irish Times in 1986 what made his shop so special, Dom proudly said: "quality, value and selection" – and that still holds true today. The large selection of superb quality Irish Aran knitwear at reasonable prices quickly became a favourite among both locals and visitors. As a result, the business expanded to include outlets around the country including Dublin, Kilkenny, and Galway City. The flagship store on Nassau Street in Dublin, located directly across from Trinity College, continues to be a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the heart of the city.

From timeless classics to modern twists on traditional patterns, there’s something for everyone in our collection — come and discover your next favourite piece instore or online.
