100% Donegal Wool Tweed-Look Crew Neck Cardigan

Wrap up in timeless Irish style with this beautifully crafted 100% Donegal Wool cardigan, designed in Ireland and knitted in a distinctive soft nepped yarn that creates a classic tweed-look finish. Warm, comfortable and effortlessly versatile, this Irish wool cardigan is the perfect everyday layer for autumn and winter.

The classic crew neck cardigan features contrasting rolled hems at the neckline, bottom edge and across the tops of the two patch pockets, adding a subtle contemporary detail to its traditional design. Raglan sleeves provide a comfortable fit, while gentle shaping through the waist creates a flattering silhouette without compromising on comfort.

Every detail has been carefully finished, including fully linked seams for a smooth, high-quality finish. The cardigan fastens at the centre front with six natural coconut buttons, complementing the beautiful texture and natural character of the Donegal wool.

Knitted in 3-gauge, 100% Donegal Wool, this is a warm and breathable Irish wool cardigan that works beautifully as an extra layer throughout the cooler months. Pair it with jeans or corduroy trousers for a relaxed everyday look, or wear it with a skirt for a more polished style. It also works perfectly layered over a T-shirt or shirt as versatile outerwear.

A Little Bit About Us

The Sweater Shop is a family-run business that was established in 1986 by Dom Byrne and his sister Breege. Now in its second generation, the company is run by Dom’s son Paul and daughter Laura, alongside their sister-in-laws Kate and Eileen Louise, and cousin Alva, who manages the Galway locations.

The Sweater Shop remains a true family affair, built on a strong sense of heritage and deep-rooted family values. When asked by a journalist from The Irish Times in 1986 what made his shop so special, Dom proudly said: "quality, value and selection" – and that still holds true today. The large selection of superb quality Irish Aran knitwear at reasonable prices quickly became a favourite among both locals and visitors. As a result, the business expanded to include outlets around the country including Dublin, Kilkenny, and Galway City. The flagship store on Nassau Street in Dublin, located directly across from Trinity College, continues to be a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the heart of the city.

From timeless classics to modern twists on traditional patterns, there’s something for everyone in our collection — come and discover your next favourite piece instore or online.
